Thank you for visiting the SR 299 Improvements Project (from Catherine Street to SR 1) website. This project will widen the roadway corridor, improve traffic capacity and operations, add pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and improve safety.

Current Active Work Area - Phase 1 & Phase 2

Traffic Advisory: Beginning on or about Tuesday, September 28, 2021 traffic will be shifted to the west on Brick Mill Road to begin construction on the east side.

Phase 1

  • Estimated Duration: 4 months

During Phase 1, traffic will shift to the south between Cleaver Farms Road and Silver Lake Road to construct the north side of SR 299 from Cleaver Farms Road to East Hampstead Road. A-DEL Construction will install water, sewer, and drainage pipes.

Night work will be performed at certain times to install the pipes. During this time, a lane will be closed, and a flagger will direct two-way traffic. Flaggers will escort pedestrians through work zones at intersections and temporary pedestrian paths will be used in work areas.

Pedestrian Detour
A pedestrian detour will be in place during work at the SE corner of SR 299 and Silver Lake Road. The posted detour will include a temporary crossing at Silver Lake Road and Fairfield Court.

Temporary Bus Stop
A temporary bus stop will be in place for DART Route 43 on westbound SR 299 at the Silver Lake Center. The existing bus stop at East Hampstead Road will be relocated to this location.

Phase 2

  • Estimated Duration: 6 months
  • Traffic Advisory: traffic will be shifted to the west on Brick Mill Road to begin construction on the east side on September 28

During Phase 2, construction will take place on the north side of SR 299 from East Hampstead Road to SR 1, the east side of Brick Mill Road, and the east side of Silver Lake Road. Work will include widening the existing roadway as well as constructing curb, sidewalk, and drainage features.

The next phase schedule to be worked on is Phase 3.
